Ivy is excited to announce we now offer The Harmony Laser. The Harmony laser combines two trusted technologies- Pulsed Dye Laser and Intense Pulse Light (IPL) for the “Gold Standard” treatment of many skin imperfections including skin discoloration, vascular and pigmented lesions, and fine lines and wrinkles.
Your exact treatment regimen will depend on the condition of your skin and your aesthetic goals. Most patients see results quickly and treatment times are generally only a few minutes long.
Harmony is safe and has been performed on thousands of patients across the globe with beautiful results.
This is the ideal procedure to eliminate discoloration and other signs of aging and requires no extended “down time” or recovery time.
IPL treatments cause changes in the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate new collagen growth which results in smoother skin and a reduction of hyperpigmentation. The treatment, also known as a photo facial, targets darker skin cells and will break down the melanin which causes dark spots along with treating red or splotchy skin. Over the next week, you may see these tiny particles of pigment flake away, or they are naturally taken care of by your lymphatic system. It Is normal to experience mild swelling; however, most patients have zero to little social downtime. Following the aftercare listed below, it will help to keep your recovery to a minimum!
IPL Aftercare Immediately Following Your Treatment:
-Ice immediately for approximately 30 minutes. After that ice for 10 to 15 minutes every hour for the first 3 hours.
-The night of your treatment, it is recommended you sleep with your head elevated to help prevent swelling
-You may wash your face the evening of your treatment Wash the treated area with a gentle cleanser and warm water (not hot water), and pat dry. At Ivy Aesthetics we recommend using Revision’s Gentle Foaming Cleanser
-Your skin may be hypersensitive especially to heat. Avoid hot baths, showers, hot tubs, or saunas for the first 2-3 days. A warm shower should be tolerable.
-Avoid strenuous activity or exercise for 48 hours as overheating the skin can reduce the positive effects of the treatment
-It is normal to have a mild sunburn sensation for the first couple hours after a treatment, but some people have this feeling for as long as a couple of days
Dos and Don’ts
-If possible, do not apply makeup immediately after the treatment. It is best to give the skin 12 hours of rest before putting makeup on
-Your skin will be very sun sensitive for up to four weeks. To minimize sun damage after IPL we recommend you stay out of the sun as much as possible. Do not use tanning beds or attempt to tan outdoors. Wear a wide-brimmed hat or umbrella to shade the skin when you will be outdoors. Wean and SPF of at least 30
-Give your skin some extra TLC! You can use a moisturizer twice a day to keep the treated area well hydrated. Do not allow it to become dry.
-Do drink lots of water! Moisturize your skin from the inside out by staying well hydrated
- Avoid using harsh skincare products including exfoliants, scrubs, perfumed soaps, and lotions, bleaching creams, astringents, and retinol until your skin has healed.
-Don’t pick or scratch the darkened areas. While it can be tempting to pick and pull at these dark areas, you need to keep your hands off. If you do, you may run the risk of hypopigmentation or scarring. If your skin itches, apply a cool compress to temporarily ease symptoms
After Brown Spots Have Shed
-Once all brown spots have shed, you can resume your normal skincare regimen, but we recommend adding a medical-grade Vitamin C Serum to your regimen in the morning. Two products we love are the C+ Correcting lotion from Revision or CE Peptides by Vivier.
-Two to three weeks after treatment, we highly recommend a Chemical Peel to further assist with removing dead skin cells revealing your healthy glowing skin.
